 Pillow
Academy proudly announced Kristen
Stephens
as the STAR Student for 2012. She
scored 33 on her ACT while maintaining a
102.2 grade average. She has selected Mrs.
Marietta Branch as her Star Teacher. The
Mississippi Economic Council has two
specific purposes: 1) emphasize
scholastic excellence and encourage greater
scholastic effort among Mississippi students
and 2) recognition of the teaching
profession. To be eligible for the STAR
Student honor, a student may be an enrolled
senior in an accredited public or private
high school and the student must have an ACT
score of at least 25 with an overall GPA of
93. The STAR Student is then asked to
designate his or her STAR Teacher. The STAR
teacher is the teacher who has made the
greatest contribution toward the student's
scholastic achievement.

1996-97 Basketball State AAAA and Over-all
Championship Team
will be
recognized on Saturday, January 14, 2012.
Pillow Academy will honor the 15th
Anniversary of this accomplishment.
A social time has been
planned for the Sethi Student Activities
Building (SAB) from 2:30 until 4:30 pm for
the team, their spouses, children and
parents to reunite and “catch up” on what
has been going on for the past fifteen
years. Pillow will then introduce the
members of the team at the girls’ high
school game against JA with tip-off at
approximately 4:30 pm. Recognition of the
Girls’ 1996-97 Championship Team will be
after the game at approximately 5:45. |

Baseball Winter Camp: Louis Coleman,
pitcher for Kansas City Royals, will host PA's
annual baseball
winter
camp on
January 28th.

Pillow Academy - Annual Blood Drive: The Class of 2012 will
host PA's annual Blood D rive
on January 24th and 25th. The blood drive will be in the Tol
Thomas Library from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
All teachers, parents, and students 17 and
older are encouraged to sign up to give.
A 16 year old may give if a permission form
is signed by a guardian. If you would
like to give, please call 452-1266 to
reserve your time slot or email
mhodges@mailpa.com. Please bring your
picture ID the day you come to donate.
