In selecting books for reading, Pillow Academy teachers and the administration consider the contribution each work may make to the education of the reader.  Furthermore, teachers make every effort to carefully select appropriate works.  Pillow Academy believes selected materials that address mature themes and issues can help students to think critically about and understand our world, its cultures, and the human experience.  For this reason, students are required to read, consider, and discuss literary texts which may include content or language that some may judge questionable or unsuitable.  Pillow Academy recognizes that a particular work may be objectionable to a student or parent but further believes that exposure to these literary works far outweigh the benefit of censorship.  Any views or opinions presented in the assigned summer reading books are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of Pillow Academy or its staff.
