MONDAY, Oct. 27 / Lesson for DAY OF THE DEAD - El Dia de Los Muertos, a Mexican tradition.
This week, we will review the Mexican tradition of Día de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead. We will complete activities and watch videos to learn more about this celebration. Please bring your Chromebook to class every day. Work on Edpuzzles. The Edpuzzles are due tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 28.
On Wednesday, Oct. 29: Don't forget to bring your colored pencils/markers to class.
This week's lessons on Día de los Muertos traditions are important—make sure you're ready to show what you know on the test.
Just a friendly reminder to please bring a food item or a dessert to share with the class on Thursday, October 30th. Thank you!
NOTES TO READ IN CLASS:
Day of the Dead, or Día de los Muertos, is a holiday that honors deceased loved ones and celebrates their lives. It's celebrated in Mexico and Central America, as well as by people of Mexican heritage around the world.
The Day of the Dead, or Día de los Muertos, is celebrated on November 1 and 2, and is a combination of the ancient Aztec tradition of honoring ancestors and the Catholic holiday of All Souls' Day.
Traditionally, November 1st honors deceased children and November 2nd honors deceased adults. Day of the Dead is celebrated passionately throughout Mexico, and especially so in smaller provincial towns and cities. November 2nd is an official Public Holiday in Mexico.
In Spain, November 1st it is known as 'Día de Todos los Santos' (All Saints Day) and November 2nd as 'Día de los Muertos/Difuntos' (Day of the Dead/All Souls Day).
