MONDAY, Sep. 15 / Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15–October 15). We will use this week to review information about Spanish-Speaking countries - Lección sobre los países hispanohablantes. Students will be reviewing important facts from some Spanish-speaking Countries. Use Chromebooks in class. Go over the Slideshows to find the information needed for your responses (Questions and answers worksheets). The questions will be provided during class time. Students will focus on identifying the major Spanish-speaking nations, their geographical locations, unique cultural aspects like food, music, and festivals, and interesting facts about each country, all while incorporating basic Spanish vocabulary to discuss these features. There are 21 countries which state their official language as Spanish: Spain, Mexico, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela, and Equatorial Guinea.

Mexico's Independence Day in 2025 is on Tuesday, September 16. This holiday commemorates the "Cry of Dolores" in 1810, the call to arms by priest Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla that started the Mexican War of Independence from Spain.
The Date: The official date is September 16.
The Event: It is known in Spanish as "El Grito de Dolores," or the Cry of Dolores.
The Significance: The day marks the beginning of Mexico's struggle for independence from Spanish colonial rule.
How it's Celebrated: Families and communities often gather to give their own "grito" (yell for independence), and there are many festivities and patriotic events.
