The students will read the novel Dinosaurs Before Dark by Mary Pope Osbourne over the next 3 weeks. They will typically read a chapter each day and test on those chapters at the end of the week. The students will complete a comprehension page for each chapter in addition to studying vocabulary words. Help your child to remember their bag with their book, comprehension packet and vocabulary sheet each day. They will need this at home as well as at school.
1. Review vocabulary for chapters 1-4 (pretend, real, disappeared, dinosaurs, monster, reptile, ancient, crest, examine).
2. Review chapter 1 and questions.
3. Read chapter 2 aloud and answer the comprehension questions for chapter 2 in the question packet.
4. Introduce similes and metaphors.
5. Complete activity on similes and metaphors.
Homework
*Read chapters 1-2 and study vocabulary words for chapters 1-4.
*Test on chapters 1-4 Friday
