Pillow Academy is an independent college preparatory school which serves approximately 775 students from the five-county area in and around Greenwood, Mississippi. The school is located on Highway 82 just three miles west of Greenwood on a 58 acre campus, with physical facilities that are modern and practical. Pillow enrolls students from Leflore, Carroll, Grenada, Holmes, Sunflower, Washington, and Tallahatchie counties in kindergarten through high school, offering a diverse combination of academics, athletics, and extracurricular activities.
Enrollment:
Over the years the enrollment has gone from a high of 1200 in 1970 to its current figure of 790.

15/1 in grades K through 2
20/1 in grades 3 through 5
18/1 in grades 6 through 12
Faculty:
The faculty is extremely stable with average tenure being 10 years, many having served the school longer. All teachers take professional courses toward the renewal of certification and are involved in a staff development program each year.
Student Achievements:
As a college preparatory school, 99% of Pillow students enter college. ACT scores from graduates are consistently above the state and national average. Pillow Academy’s ACT average over the past five years is 23. The ACT average for students enrolled in the University Honors Track is 29.
Curriculum:
The curriculum for high school students is divided into 3 tracks: Community College Track, University Track, University Honors Track. University and University Honors Tracks meet all requirements for entrance into all Mississippi 4-year universities; Community College Track meets all requirements for entrance into community colleges. Honors courses are offered in English, mathematics, and science. Advanced Placement courses are offered in biology, chemistry, physics, U.S. history, and calculus. College Dual Enrollment is offered for English IV (English Composition I and II), Algebra III (College Algebra), Speech, and Art Appreciation. Dual Enrollment courses are designated by DE after the course. Extracurricular activities include newspaper staff, annual staff, dance team, cheerleading, band, football, basketball, softball, cross-country, tennis, track, golf, soccer, baseball, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Spanish Club, Green and Gold Ambassadors, Wildlife Conservation Club, Junior Engineering Technology Society, Lion’s Leadership Club, Mississippi Model Security Council, Mustang Club (Honors), Quiz Club, Honor Society, Stock Market Club, Student Council, Thespian Society, 4-H Potential Realized in Diverse Environments, and Young Emerging Leaders of Leflore Program (Y.E.L.L.)
Accreditation:
Pillow Academy holds dual accreditation through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS). Pillow is also a member of the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools ( MAIS).
