Colonial America Unit

Early European Settlements in North America

Objectives:
1. Students will learn about the early French colonies, Dutch West India Company, and early English colonies including focusing on Roanoke, Jamestown, and Plymouth
2. Students will learn why these settlers wanted to move to America.

Classwork:
Teacher will read information about early European colonies in North America.
Teacher will complete note sheet on early English Colonies with students. 

Homework: Practice the 13 colonies song. Students must recite or sing this on or before Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

Colonial America Unit

Objectives
1. Students will be able to identify the New England Colonies.
2. Students will learn more about what life was like for the Pilgrims.

Classwork:
1. Class will read a passage about the New England Colonies.
2. Class will work together to identify key components of the passage including the main ideas of the passage, as well as, those of each paragraph in order to improve reading comprehension skills. 

Homework: 
Study note sheet on Early English Settlements for a quiz (wt. 1) on Thursday, October 30, 2025.

Study the 13 Colonies Song. Students must be able to recite or sing the 13 colonies song for a daily grade on or before Tuesday, November 4, 2025. 

Colonial America

Objectives:
1. Students will be prepared for tomorrow's quiz.
2. Students will begin memorizing the placement of the original 13 states.

Classwork:
1. Teacher will review information covered on Early English Colonies.
2. Students will practice identifying states on a map.
