Seniors will return to Elementary Classroom
YES! That is correct – Seniors in Mrs. Hargett’s Honors English IV DE class will begin new adventures in ELEMENTARY CLASSROOMS! To prepare for this undertaking the class will have guest speakers during the next several weeks. Each guest will share insights about responsibility, expectations, leadership, and other key points. Seniors will reflect on speakers’ presentations in journal entries each week. This first week, the seniors reviewed the Pillow Academy Code of Ethics with Mr. Barrett Donahoe, Head of School, and then recorded their thoughts on specific instances when these concepts had an influence on their lives. After much preparation, the seniors will conclude the unit by actually working, teaching, and becoming a part of the elementary classrooms.
Mrs. Jenni Hargett believes that this experience will make a difference not only in the lives of the elementary children who already admire our older students, but also in the lives of our seniors. The seniors will be able to see first-hand the impact they can have as role models for these children. Mrs. Sulee Blansett, Elementary School Principal, seconds those sentiments and feels this service opportunity will help unite our school – showing the Mini-Mustangs what their futures may hold and reminding the seniors of their roots, where it all began.
The first guest was Mr. Rodney Brown, High School Principal. Mr. Brown tasked the seniors with considering the legacies they hope to leave behind at Pillow Academy after graduation and the responsibility they bear as leaders in the school.
There will definitely be updates on the project!
