Introduce new vocabulary words (puppy, three, busy, fathers, mothers, quietly, excited, ships, sailed, horse, four, tired, unhappy, cried)
This chapter introduces the first three capitalization rules, adds more adjectives and adverbs to the sentences and questions and statements.
The students will practice jingles 3-4.
The students will classify sentences with more adverbs and adjectives.
Examples: The two busy fathers ate quickly.
A little brown puppy barked loudly today.
Introduce two kinds of sentences: Statements and Questions
Statements end with a period.
Questions end with a question mark
Finally, introduce the capitalization rules.
1. Capitalize the first word in a sentence.
2. Capitalize the names of people.
3. Capitalize the pronoun I.
Remind students that we have heard of these rules, now we just need to use them. Show students how to put numbers on the sentence and make corrections.
