The teacher will ask students, what do they hear in the initial position of each word. They hear the /f/ sound, but it is spelled with a ph. The ph digraph will be introduced.
The students will code the words above. Ph is coded with a simple underline.
The students will proceed to code words with the ph digraph.
The class will check the coding on the Smart Board.
The students will read the paragraphs on the worksheet and answer the comprehension questions.

Lesson 106- ey (key)
The teacher will call out letter sounds and words.
The students will write them and check them on the Smart Board together.
The teacher will write the words volley, alley and chimney on the board introducing the digraph ey as in key.
The students will code the words above. Since the digraph makes the long e sound, the digraph will be underlined with a macron over the e and cross out the y.
The students will code additional words with the digraph ey. The class will check coding together.
The students will read the two paragraph story on the back of the page and complete the comprehension questions.

New vowel pattern. Separate between two consonants. Remember, when you see a word look for suffixes or final stable syllable. Look for obvious coding and vowel patterns. These words will have two vowels. Mark them with a v. Separate into syllables. Mark the consonants with a c.
Put the accent mark where it belongs, usually on the first syllable.
Ex: inspect, pumpkin, athlete,

Lesson 93, Final Stable Syllable –tion
The students will practice letter recognition, affixes, letter sounds and sight words on the Smart Board.
The teacher will introduce the new sound, final stable syllable –tion /shun/ using the words motion, section and nation.
The students will code the words and complete the phonics hand out.
The students will read the story and answer the comprehension questions.

Lesson 92, The rule vc|cvc|cv
The students will practice letter sounds and words on the Smart Board. The teacher will call these orally.
The teacher will use the word Atlantic to introduce the new pattern vc|cvc|cv.
Student will code the obvious and clap the syllables in the word. The student will code other words such as chimpanzee, September and sarcastic.
The students will spell words called orally.
The student will complete the back of the worksheet by choosing words that represent the illustration.
Homework:
Spelling: The students will complete the spelling worksheet by writing the words 2xs each and composing five sentences. Have your child aim for 7 up sentences. These are sentences with seven words. This is not a requirement at this time; however, it is important to help them create sentences that are meaningful and grade level appropriate. Also, please check your child’s work to make sure they are putting spelling words into the sentences. This worksheet is due by Thursday. The dictation/spelling tests will be on Thursday.
