CLASSWORK:        List 3: short and long i sounds
Monday:                 Complete workbook page 10.

Friday:                    Spelling test with 2 dictation sentences.  (REMINDER:  Words 1-10 must be written in cursive.  Words 11-20 may be printed.  Some students may choose to write all words, 1-20, in cursive.  Dictation sentences may be written in cursive or in print.

Monday:                Study words and review workbook page 10.  Spelling sheet on sentences will be passed out.  It is due by Wednesday.

CLASSWORK:     Test 1 (Friday, Aug. 28) will include: adding 1, 2,3,and 4-digit numbers, subtracting 3 and 4 digit numbers, writing the value of a digit, writing numbers in standard form, determining equations that are greater than, less than, or equal, finding the missing addend, time, temperature, story, problems, and writing related facts for given digits (example:  24, 10, 14:  10+14=24;   14 + 10=24;  24-10=14;  24-14=10)  Students will have examples/notes in their Math Spiral Notebook each day to study for the test.

Friday:              spelling test (This past Friday, Aug. 14, students were anxious and worried about writing their words and 5 dictation sentences in cursive.  A few became really upset.  After much thought and consideration this weekend about the spelling test and dictation sentences ,  I have decided that students will be required to write 10 of the spelling words in cursive and the other 10 words in print.  A student may choose to write all 20 words in cursive.  There will only be 2 dictation sentences that students can choose to write in cursive or in print.  I have ordered some cursive strips for students and cursive letters to place in the classroom.  Also, spelling homework has changed.  Students will receive a sheet with 20 sentences.  Students are to write the correct spelling word in cursive to complete each sentence.  Students will receive the sheet each Monday, and it is due each Wednesday.  A grade will be taken on this sheet.)   

HOMEWORK:   Students should practice writing in cursive.

CLASSWORK:    We will review multiplication facts X's 1 each day.  A 5 minute timed test will be given on X's 1 Friday.  Math Mystery: Case of the School Invaders will be worked in class together and will be taken as a daily grade.  A short quiz on place value will be on Friday.
